Technical manager & creator of GDM

My name is Mickaël and I trained in stage management at the CFPTS. I currently work as a technical manager for several companies and a few cultural venues in Paris.

It was during my apprenticeship at the Centquatre that I had to inventory, from scratch, the equipment we owned, in order to dispatch it for the upcoming festivals. An Excel file might have been enough, but I preferred to develop a solution better suited to a venue with a large number of halls. In 2012 the software did not look like much, but it could calculate availability based on the other shows. Little by little it became better looking and richer in features. The software was shaped by user feedback. More and more organisations became interested, and the number of users multiplied. It is everyone’s motivation, and word of mouth, that allowed GDM to grow and become the application it is today.

If you are not a user yet, I hope you will soon meet one of the people who use it and who can tell you about the change. The change that comes, day after day, from freeing your mind. And perhaps one day you will not be able to do without it either.

Today I want to thank everyone who made the development of the software possible. Thank you to Christophe, who entrusted me with this inventory management challenge. Thank you to Lise, who saw the software’s potential as soon as she came back from maternity leave, and who was the first to be motivated enough to enter all her data with Barth. Thank you to Jimus for coming up with the name GDM. Thank you to Romain for letting me use a server, for being there to manage it, and for the whole network side. Thank you to Arthur and Lionel for training me in the job of technical manager. Thank you to Camille for being the first user outside the Centquatre. Thank you to Sam for all the software development advice. And a big thank you to John, who is behind the algorithm and the whole network layer that GDM could no longer do without today.
